Sight Step

A good walk, starting where you are

Tell Sight Step how long you have. It plans three round walks from where you're standing, through pleasant streets and past the places worth seeing, and back to where you began.

Coming to the App Store soon. To hear when it's out, write to hello@sightstep.app.

Three loops from one door: balanced, through the park and along the river, and past the old town.

How it works

  1. Choose how long

30, 45 or 60 minutes, 3 to 8 km, or a length of your own.

  2. Pick a loop

Each one shows its length, time, steps, and what you'll pass on the way.

  3. Walk

The map turns with you, and your phone taps you before each turn, even in your pocket.

Three kinds of loop

  • Balanced. A bit of everything: quiet streets, some greenery, and the sights along the way.
  • Nature. Through parks and along water, away from busy roads.
  • Heritage. Past monuments, churches, palaces and old squares.

Every loop starts and ends where you are, so there's no way back to work out at the end.

On the way

  • Turn-by-turn directions, with a tap on your wrist or in your pocket before each turn.
  • A few lines about the places you pass, with a photo, from Wikipedia.
  • Real steps from your iPhone's motion sensor.
  • A summary of every walk, with a map of the route you actually took, to keep or share.
